Dal
Excellent dish, recommended to serve with white rice
Ingredients
- 1 cup or 225gm of chana dal (Yellow Split Pea) washed well
- 5 cups or 1.5 litter water
- 1/2 ts Turmeric
- 2 thin slices of Ginger with the peal
- 1 ts Garam Masala
- 3 TBs vegteble oil
- 1/2 ts Cumin
- 2 chopped garlic cloves
- 1/4 ts chili powder
Preparation
- Boil the pea in water and take away the foam
- Add turmeric, cumin, ginger, cover with the water and cook for 1.5 hours
- In the last half an hour mix every few minutes so it doesn't stick to the bottom
- Discrad of the ginger
- In a small pan heat the oil
- Fry the garlic until it begins to turn yellow
- Add the chili powder to the garlic and immediately take of the fire
- Mix well into the dal and take of the fire
If the dal is too hard, add some water
